Re: Do you think Opencaching is actually bad for Groundspeak

I've suspected for a while that there are two, maybe three, people who operate behind the NYAdmin acct. I've seen replies/posts where NYA's questions appear he/she has very good knowledge and of GPS coordinates, placements and other information; and I've seen replies/posts where NYA seem ...

Re: Do you think Opencaching is actually bad for Groundspeak

... successful (and remember, while I don't predict mass defection from Groundspeak I can imagine more new cachers going to Opencaching) to the point where they start to cannibalize each other (the example of an OC and a GC cache next to each other causing confusing is a good possibility), something ...

Re: Interesting news regarding Groundspeak alternatives...

... And it could become like the differences between different GC reviewers multiplied. Or will it become like a high school style popularity contest where only the most popular types of caches (or cachers) win? I certainly hope not, but I don't want to find out. Or as in the case of terracaching's ...

Re: Geocaching commitment

Ah. Hmmm... I'm of an age, and live in an area where I have met several people with numbers tattooed on their arms. They were happy to have survived the NAZI Concentration Camps. History lasts as long as people remember it. I'll pass on this one.

Re: How to contact a reviewer?

... if no response yet or if he/she has issues with caches that many other admins seem to "allow". But there are plenty of series caches where you have to get clues from other caches to "solve" the final. Right here in Westchester there's the Paladin Quest series and the new ...

Re: How to contact a reviewer?

... not technically a challenge cache - you can still run it the way that you're envisioning it; there are plenty of other examples of Unknown caches where to get information for the final you have to find other caches first. The only implication of it not being a challenge cache is that you can't ...

Re: Signing the logs

Personally, if they can prove they found the cache with a photo or a detailed description of where it was, I let it go, but if not I agree with deleting it.

Re: Signing the logs

In a case like this, where the person seems clearly to have visited the cache and found the container, I would happily let the online log stand. I don't need someone's signature on a tiny rolled up piece of paper for me to confirm that ...

Signing the logs

... actually finding it? I suppose it's your cache and you can do as you please, but I'd sure appreciate it if you restored my find just so I can see where I've been. For the record, it's inside the metal telephone pole cable cover in a tiny magnetic thimble-sized container. I was with the groomsmen ...

Any Mavens interested in making a presentation?

Not sure if anyone here has heard of an event called "Hobby", but it's a monthly lecture series hosted by Harvest where 4 speakers chat about their hobbies for 5 minutes each (followed by a brief Q & A). There is an event on Tuesday, November 16th from 7-8pm and the organizers ...

... for $21.00 online. It seems like a great way to have some one get to a certain spot (maybe) to see something cool and then they can be sent to where the cache and logbook are! I'm going to order a few today!

Souvenirs - time sensitive 10/10/10

... a new icon thing called Souvenirs. It's not entirely clear to me how they work - I think they're trying to cash in on the Foursquare type thing, where you can "check in" and earn badges and stuff. Anyway, they haven't fully rolled them out, but a few of the Lackeys (people who work ...
