Five of Diamonds

Well, this isn't about one of "my" hides, but this seemed like the right forum (paulo - yes? no?). I just wanted to direct folks to an unexpectedly interesting cache in the Bronx. It's rather unloved - as of this morning it had been in place for over ...

Re: GPSr and Software Help

... there know of a way to eliminate the shopping stuff that came with the maps I loaded? If there isn't a way to eliminate them, does anyone know the right combination of settings to minimize their intrusion? Any other suggestions? Other than asking Garmin to hire an Apple engineer for a week to overhaul ...

Re: May 10- WWFM--FLUSHING MEADOW

... if we were a "Friend or Foe" to their organization (fueled by some misunderstandings) - I don't want to prove the "Foe" camp right! I think a cross-post advertising approach would both (1) be better for the Metro - LIGO relationship, and (2) be a better service for cachers ...

Re: Here is why I love geocaching....

... around. I usually will research a place ahead of time and pick out a cache or two that seem really cool and focus my efforts on those. If I scout right, I can sometimes have some great stories to tell afterwards. Although I'll admit that I get a little OCD-like about the caches that are within ...

Re: Stories About Where We've Let Our GPS'rs Take Us

It took us down a residential street to a house on the right of the street as our final destination. Mind you, as I said, we didn't punch in any towns or addresses -- we just punched in Food and spelled out McDonalds. We had almost the exact same thing ...

Re: Cache Placement Etiquette

... such resolution and detail... I've been known to nudge my coords by 1/1000th of a minute just to make sure the arrow is pointing precisely at the right corner of the fence (or whatever). I can accept that other people might be comfortable with looser coordinates than I am, but knowing that the ...

But what you're saying... that's really interesting! Sort of like Fort Clinton in Battery Park; NPS jurisdiction in the middle of an ...

Announcing... Dastardly Pathtags!

... for caches that used to be listed but now are not, it may still be possible to get credit for them - just shoot me an email and we'll take a look. Right now we're using 15 and 30, but those are "beta" thresholds - we may change them in the future. Also, right now the tags are being provided ...

Re: 1 Million!

I think that's right... and there are also caches that never get published at all, although they keep their assigned waypoints. Listings created to be personal geocoin storage, listings with guideline violations that are never fixed, etc.

Re: Signing the logs

... is a cryptex that must be solved... stuff like that. But otherwise, knowing that they searched for the cache and confirming that they found the right thing, I don't need their smudged pen signature. I'd like it - I save our old logbooks - but I wouldn't personally delete an online log over it.

Re: What Was There?

Showed this link to the teachers at my kids' school tonight - they're pumped. They're doing some mapping / history units this year so it's right up their alley. Thanks for the link!
