Re: Tornado Damage

I got a few 'owner maintenance' and 'disable listing' notifications from folks in the east part of Queens / west part of Long Island, from people registering damage to their caches. But I don't know the areas well enough to be able to describe the affected locations.

Re: Interested in finding an "unpublished" cache?

... cachers are from Jersey but put a bunch of hides in Pelham Bay Park while biking through it during a visit to the female team member's mom in City Island; most of these hides have been muggled and they've archived. Abelisle, you sound like just the person to "break the spell" and see ...

Interested in finding an "unpublished" cache?

... My cache was entitled "How 'erratic' are you?" since it is close to a large glacial erratic boulder at the northern tip of Hunter Island, north of Orchard Beach (Bx.) I think it's hidden in a clever place but some of you guys (esp. Behistun) are very clever finders. If you're in ...

... use, city, state, national, wildlife refuge, etc. and the boundaries and usage laws for each of these is not always clear. For instance Governor's Island. Last year NYAdmin allowed publication of at least two caches there but withdrew them both after discovering that part of the island was a National ...

Re: Stupid Muggles!

... "I knew (personally)" NY Admin. I tried to squeeze it out but got nowhere. At the time, there was a rumor that it was JM Bella on Long Island but he said it was not. I was told by a Groundspeak lackey at the Mid Western Geobash in 2008 that NY Admin will NEVER reveal them selves because ...

The Necessity of Signing the Log

There is a relatively newer cacher out there who has been logging finds on Long Island whose logs on the cache page consistantly is "Photo Only." So I emailed the guy to question him about it with: "I've noticed your online logs for a few of my caches ...

1st find and 1st fellow geocacher on same day!

... started geocaching 2 weeks ago and set up 5 caches and made my 1st find today. As I hiked out of the area = Pelham Bay Park, Orchard Beach, Hunter Island = "Fisherman's Cove", I saw someone approaching on a mountain bike. When we got close, he asked me if I made any finds and I asked ...

... caching activity there. Something in Riverside Park, Morningside Park or Inwood Hill / Fort Tryon might work well. Gerk's Lantern caches on Ward's Island might not be a bad choice. Pill Popper in Morningside would be fun, for someone who hasn't found it before. As much as I love the cache, I don't ...

Well WTF

I'm pissed at the C.O. for messing with the cache page because this could have been a great series for Staten Island and pissed at GC.com for such sticklers on what or what isn't an "agenda." My hunch is that someone complained about the cache so I'm pissed at that one, ...
