Re: May 29 - First Boat Out (GC2R4FY)

... The guidelines may be found at (visit link) I'm not at all sure how this is a geocaching event. It seems more like tourist trip to explore the island. I see no geocaching element in your event. Additionally, the National Park service does not allow geocaching on land they manage and I'm unclear ...

New Zealand Earthquake Relief

... We are particularly happy that we're the ones to post this Locationless Cache. We spent 2 days in Christchurch 5 years ago during a trip to South Island. While we were driving around the island, we did dozens of LCs, and Havelock, NZ gave us the idea for our World Capitals LC.

Re: Anyone notice?

... Man found frozen in block of ice "Is it Captain America? Did he have a shield?" "No, he had a GPS device and a map of Governor's Island." "A geocacher! I bet it was that addisonBR. There's no ferry and that FTF was just too tempting."

Anyone notice?

Just posted... a cache on Governor's Island!

CacheArt - Coast Guard Lieutenant - GC2JAC3

I don't want to jinx it, but I thought GS considered the island "No Man's Land"?

Re: Do you think Opencaching is actually bad for Groundspeak

Looking around the Opencaching website, I don't really see a whole lot of caches in the Westchester area, I see a few on Long Island, but overall not too many (am I seeing this right?) Anyways, it don't suspect that it will take on the full popularity that Geocaching.com has taken over ...

Roughly 35 miles in 13 hours 6 minutes, including stopping to grab about a dozen caches along the route. :-) My friend GerIRL here ...

Re: Manhattan Magellan

... 25 blocks of this walk over the years, just in my usual travels, but it'll be fun to do it with the purpose of getting all the way around the island in two or three trips. I'll post when I have my walks scheduled too, and anyone who wants to do shorter jaunts is welcome to join me!

... on my next ambitious (translation = crazy) adventure. Assuming the weather cooperates, on Sunday, October 3, I will attempt to circumnavigate the island of Manhattan on foot. Total distance = 31 miles. If I am able to finish, it will be the farthest I have ever walked in a single day (to my knowledge). ...
