Re: Unusual request from out of state cacher

I have a cache on Deer Island right outside Boston (GC3198N) that just got a recent log from a cacher from North Vernon, IN. Could it be the same one? If so, they were on Day 99 of their streak yesterday. That means today is going to be their big day!!

Re: Wildlife in NYC

And there are now deer on occasion in at least Van Cortlandt Park, though I've heard of some Staten Island sightings too, though I'm not sure how the deer got there from the "mainland". Ditto wild Turkeys in both.

Re: Challenges - Thoughts?

... are. Btw, I think Ruth's idea was a great one as it enhances the core sport of geocaching in Manhattan. Anyone who places a larger cache on the island (so long as they aren't placed poorly simply for the sake of the challenge) should be duly rewarded. :)

Re: Getting permission in NYC

The only restricted parkland I can think of around here is Riverbank Park on the west side of Manhattan, and Governor's Island. (Though I'll admit I am not as familiar with stuff in the outer boroughs.) Riverbank is a state park. There is some discrepancy as to where it stops and starts. ...

Re: Cotton Malone? Reviewer?

... caches again. One of the nicest guys out there! And it seems like our NY Admin must be on vacation, since Brian is publishing caches here on Long Island. Maybe Ben is taking some time off or taking it easy for a while while Cotton Malone is publishing caches for him in NJ. New reviewers usually ...

Re: Washington APE Cache archived

... I have had (many) bigger disaapointments in my life but as a genuine caching nerd I really wanted this icon. Now we have grabbed caches on Easter Island and an Earth Cache in Antarctica ... so how hard can it be to go to the Brazilian rainforest? I guess its time to get our visa...

Re: The Other Game......

One of our Long Island cachers, Punchappy is an avid LB'er.

Once in West Hills my hiking pal Nancy said this looks like a good place for a cache and there was a letter box in there

Re: May 29 - First Boat Out (GC2R4FY)

... their secret identity. I think the problem he was pointing out was that this event has an odd balance... it CAN'T be about going to get the Gov's Island cache, because that's against the rules. It also seems it can't be about just a boat ride and an island tour because there's no caching element ...

Re: WWFM VIII is back on June 4, 2011

I'm wondering how much this is being promoted after the long absence, there's even a non-WWFM event on that day in Long Island: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=30136131-54ef-44a3-8a0c-268829593829 I found none listed yet in the entire state of NY (even upstate), ...

... of these so there may have been some other issue with the one in your area that caused the reviewer not to publish it as submitted. Regarding the island visit, I too would question that one. Just last week, a geocacher wanted to publish a paddling trip on a river as a geocaching event. I requested ...
