Re: Washington APE Cache archived

... to bushwhack straight down the mountain in the dark. Of course I lost the trail early on... At that time, there was construction of some sort going on up there - no clue where the access point was for workers - but there was a lock and lock at the coords that directed me to an alternate location ...

Re: July 31- Let's Go Tubing! (GC2Z4FB)

... There is also an annual non-geo event up river in Easton, PA / Philipsburg, NJ as well. My sister did that a few years back. You should come. It's going to be fun! I know people from more or less 6 to 60 so far who are already signed up to attend. And there s/b countless others I don't know yet. ...

Re: Queens CITO

A couple (maybe a few?) years ago there was a CITO in a Queens park....I don't remember if it was Alley Pond or another park. I remember that I was going to come down from Westchester with MarkSun but couldn't come at the last minute for some reason.....also, I think Bonick0 led it if I remember ...

Re: Camping Equipment?

I don't think I'll be going backcountry any time soon, so I might be able to lend you a pack (pending approval of the missus...) You might look into geartogooutfitters.com -- they rent equipment and also run guided tours, and might also ...

Re: MarkSun

Thanks. We went to visit him before going home today but he was out getting a lot of tests. Nurse seemed to think he's doing well and should be let out later this week and come home. We also spoke with him about an hour ago and he sounded good. ...

Re: Washington APE Cache archived

... happened to Mission 9. I think groundspeak did a bad job of handling this, as there now are no more APE caches left in the US. Not only is that going to detract from the "geocachers dream", but it takes one away from the geo-triad, and it seems like they could make a replacement if ...

Re: Washington APE Cache archived

That is a shame. And if I remember the description of the Brazil cache right, it's not even as simple as taking a vacation to Rio or Sao Paulo and going into the nearby countryside......I think it was put deep in the jungle and requires an expensive guided tour (I originally said "with a machete!" ...

Anyway, I'm not sure what exactly is going on or why, but last summer just before GeoWoodstock XIII (which was also near Seattle) someone stole the lid of the APE container, to which at ...

2010 Metro GC Awards!

... York area geocaching has to offer. Thanks to *everyone* who placed a listing last year (and to everyone who submitted nominations and voted). I'm going to make one of my personal goals for 2011 to find as many of the caches on this list as I can before the year is out. Here's to some of the best ...

Re: Going Coastal's "Earthcache Trail" in Inwood Hill Park

I enjoyed that series a lot as well, I did them on Saturday. Very well put together, and they bring you to a variety of neat areas.

They really do work best even in areas that are filled with muggles, due to the fact that there isn't a physical cache.

Re: Going Coastal's "Earthcache Trail" in Inwood Hill Park

Actually I checked, their other "trail" is in Liberty State Park in Jersey City.

I dug a little further, their mission is to raise awareness of urban coastal areas. They are starting in NYC then expanding to Boston and I guess eventually to other cities.

Re: Going Coastal's "Earthcache Trail" in Inwood Hill Park

I did *most* of this fine series, and managed to snag FTF on all but one of them. I was shocked that they had gone 3 days before I noticed them and still no one had visited. The one I missed had not made it through review by the time I did my run, so someone else got FTF on that one. I noticed that ...
