Re: Central Park asks for Geocache Removal

He said that he did not know of any policy about geocaching either way, but that he contacted the CO because he felt that type of container could not remain at that location. On the cache page it seemed like he contacted groundspeak directly - just to satisy my own curiosity ...

Re: GeoWoodstockVI

... (or WWFMs, or etc.) and don't have a good intuition for how to find specific ones. SilverMarc's Proto Picnic is easy enough for me to find because it shows up on the first page of my "unfound caches" list, but with 25 guesses I'm not sure I'd figure out what state GeoWoodstock ...

Re: Cache Placement Etiquette

... no problems with the game evolving as technology advances, as it has over the last decade or so. Google Maps didn't even exist before 2005; just because groundspeak may not believe that Google Maps counts as an acceptable way to play the game doesn't mean that I have to agree. (I also think that ...

Re: Metro NY Geocaching Society Geocoins!

And they're (finally) off! I intended to send the order to the minters a couple of weeks ago but ran into a little problem... Long story short, because the Metro PayPal account wasn't connected to a credit card or bank account, there was no way to get money *out* of the account. We could receive ...

Re: Cache Placement Etiquette

Google Earth is fun, a great extra tool, informative and interesting... but not reliable. ...And, at least in part because of these failings, as of today's release the Google Earth network .kml is no longer being supported by groundspeak. Overall it was a resource ...

Re: Boy Scouts and Geocaching

... they usually turn out nicely. When caches start out as "Geez, I have to figure out where to put 136 (or 50, or 30) new containers because of a big marketing push" they often don't. I think you're right to question TPTB on this somewhat ill-conceived cookie cutter approach. ...

Re: Signing the logs

... day it's the CO's right to delete an online log if there is no signature in the logbook. I myself sign every logbook before I claim a find online, because that's how I've learned to play and it's just my M.O. now. But I've never figured out why I should *require* finders to sign the log. If it's ...
