Re: 2010 Metro GC Award Nominees!

Some of my favorites are Cropsey's Respite (because it's just the greatest spot bar none), Blue Trail #14 (because it was my first, and you should always remember your first), and while some might ...

Re: The Other Game......

... when by coincidence they are hidden in pretty much the same place.... Anyone else, like me, deliberately hunt them down the letterbox way - just because they are there? I think I am inspired to place a couple of hybrids out there, and list them on LBNA also.... Just have to tackle that carve ...

The Other Game......

... in prospect park in the last month or so. One observation right away - there are multiple LBs in greenwood cemetery and no GCs. I assume this is because its private property and the admin will require explicit permissions. No such restrictions with LBs - the descriptions actually state that there ...

Re: newbie question on hiding a cache - semipublic

There are caches that require charging admission. That's why there is an attribute for it.

BUT... I'd have my permission letter from the land manager ready to go because I'm fairly certain Admin will require it in this case.

Re: May 29 - First Boat Out (GC2R4FY)

... identity. I think the problem he was pointing out was that this event has an odd balance... it CAN'T be about going to get the Gov's Island cache, because that's against the rules. It also seems it can't be about just a boat ride and an island tour because there's no caching element to that... ...

Re: Caches disappearing

... I know that a couple of years ago here in Westchester there was a cacher for whom someone was stealing her caches, she knew it was the same person because he'd (he? she? don't know) would email her about it and said that he did it "because he could". He never got caught, however, she ...

I "Heart" Caching Event - 2/5/11, Peekskill, NY

... I had a great time at the last event, and I didn't see a page for this one here. Although it's not Metro NY, just a heads-up because I know a few from this crowd came last time, and hopefully we can get more to come to this one. It's at the Peekskill Diner, starts at 6. I'll ...

Re: Do you think Opencaching is actually bad for Groundspeak

... list a cache on, say, terracaching? Or navicaching? Or whatever? Is there some advantage of using an alternate site. Basically (as addisonbr said) because they were either banned outright by GC.com, or simply got tired of some of their "monopoly powers". What I do find curious is that ...

Re: Do you think Opencaching is actually bad for Groundspeak

... about thing like permissioning in hard-to-access places. A land manager cuts a deal with one group, they don't realize there are multiple groups (because neither group is very forthcoming about it), caches get published that the manager wasn't expecting, and the whole area is shut off to caching. ...

Re: Do you think Opencaching is actually bad for Groundspeak

Re: Do you think Opencaching is actually bad for Groundspeak

... you know how almost every web site you go to uses Google Maps as the engine that drives their maps (store locator, jogging trails, etc.)? That's because Google Maps has an open API that is easy to work with. There is a bit of irony in noticing that Groundspeak switched to Google to power their ...
