Re: Southern Westchester event???

True, wasn't thinking about that. In that vein (in warmer weather) the various parks in Irvington and Tarrytown that have a cache and are right near the train station would work as well (though a little farther from the City)

Re: The great Indoors???

Sometimes I inadvertantly come out much stronger than I intended. My point was intended to be more of "balance", while I'm not very into Nintendo per se, I've long been an avid fan of video games in general and my 6 and 4 year old are too. Back when I was about 12 or 13, I was an avid &quo...

Re: Bridges, "Rock and Roll" (GC19FHX), "Handy Relief" (GC19NF1)

I was just noting that the admins seem to often let these go, otherwise I actually fully agree with you (Tatanka) and NYAdmin. I for one certainly would never hunt for a cache "under a bridge" or similarly unsafe spot, but then again I probably wouldn't go for one on the side of a cliff bu...

Kudos to KVPhoto/Miss V and their new Riverdale hides!

Today we checked out three of the 5 (and now 6!) hides in Riverdale that cacher KVPhoto and her daughter MissV has hidden and just wanted to say thanks for adding caches to that area! A lot of people don't realize that the neighborhood is an area that is very different from most stereotypes about th...

Re: Five of Diamonds

To be honest, I had been debating (just myself, not with the kids, etc. though we were going to stop there before going to the Bronx Zoo during the Holiday Lights show before it got too dark) to check that cache out given that it's so close to home, but then given how much super inexperience I am le...

Southern Westchester event???

I know my brother-in-law marksun has been talking about doing this with Paladin8 but that one of the hangups is doing it near a train station. Maybe a good place do it would be the park in Dobbs Ferry that has the Benchmark Series #1 cache (as well as some benchmarks), it's right near a Metro North ...

Re: The great Indoors???

We very much think so! It is sad that too many kids are inside playing Nintendo all day and as someone who loves BOTH tech and the outdoors I'm glad there's a thing like caching. It really does get our kids out and all.....

Re: Whereigo

If I read it right, don't you need a Garmin Colorado to play wherigo? If so, it may not get too many people, at least on the GC forums, it seems to be getting a rep as the "Edsel" of GPSr's (and is pretty pricey too!) It seemed a little complicated for me and hopefully the NUMB3RS episode ...

Re: Bridges, "Rock and Roll" (GC19FHX), "Handy Relief" (GC19NF1)

They may be "illegal", but I have heard of plenty of other cache listings in other parts of the country on bridges and it seems as long as there's ample warnings (i.e. no kids, dangerous) and nobody is suing over it, it's kind of a "don't ask, don't tell" thing. I hope it doesn't...

A Diamond in the Rough

I'm not one for overly pompous "self promotion" but I wanted to note one of our hides because it is in a very unique place that few New Yorkers know about. Here is the link: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=8cd610ad-83e3-4c1e-aba9-502ac4faa097 It's in Seton Falls park...

Re: EV 11 Serenity (GCYB09) + East Village Garden Tour (GCZHHH)

Looks like the cache is back up though somewhat thanks to the efforts of addisonbr. Looks like EVF responded there, says that family medical issues have been the cause. I hope things are OK with them, I used to "watch" the FTF race between them, addisonbr, and behistun the way some people ...
