I recently made a Facebook page which some of you already belong to.

Look up NYC Geocaching or email me and I will add you.

May the 4th be with you in Times Square

... As another way of celebrating Star Wars Day this year, we will have a limited number of trackable lightsaber coins available for sale. The coins, which will be in the shape of a lightsaber, will represent both sides of the Force. The front of the coin is blue, representing the Jedis (Obi-Wan Kenobi, ...

Re: Tracking my search with my Garmin 305

I have the 305 which I've used primarily for running and cycling but I find it an effective tool for recording all my tracks for my days when I geocache. I usually hike out to Pelham Bay Park but drive to Van Cortlandt park. I use ...

Re: Interested in finding an "unpublished" cache?

... what I think is a clever hide is really as clever as I think. Wonder if we could have a sub-forum here on this site for us locals to post caches which don't meet the strict guidelines of Groundspeak . It would be unofficial of course but challenging and fun no less?

Re: I just HATE.....

... what we were up to after that. And the original-sized container was a HUGE hit. A far more memorable experience for us than if it had been a nano, which is often the "easy way out" for a cache hide. We loved it!

Re: New iPhone and Geocaching

... - Currently, the applications for hunting caches pretty much blow. The only application I have on my phone that is GPS-helpful is Google Maps, which is okay but not great. You can't zoom in nearly as close as I'd like to zoom (designed with drivers in mind), it won't show you distance to target ...

... greater than what the U.S. Topo pack provides, but then I'm a lot less of an aggro outdoorsy type than a lot of other geocachers. As far as which to pick if you could only pick one... Hmm. I bought them both at the same time so never tried one without the other. It probably comes down to ...

Re: I broke my poor 60CSx

of course, the 60csx features the legendary SiRFstarIII gps hardware whereas with the more recent devices you are going with the MTK 3318 which, if you believe the gpspassion blogs is plagued with accuracy issues... That is very interesting... I had heard anecdotal reports from a few folks ...

Re: reverse cache

I own one of these!

I contacted Mikal over the summer and commissioned him to build me one (I used it to give my wife a surprise present a few weeks ago). Mikal was also in NY in September for the Maker Faire, which is geek heaven.

It is super cool. I'll have to let you play with it at some point.
