Any interesting obstacles to overcome when looking for a cac

I created a cache where the "seeker" has to cross a stream balancing on two logs:

Have you had to overcome an obstacle(s) to access an area where there is a cache?

Geocaching and Orienteering combined?

Has anyone thought of or mentioned combining geocaching with orienteering where people would have to run to find a designated number of hides (let's say in a 10 square mile area) in the fastest time? I guess using a digital camera to show pics of each hide would ...

Re: NY Admin strikes again!

What the NY Admin emailed you matches my recent experiences.

For New York Subway, I was asked to remove a link to the MTA web site. The linked page didn't sell MetroCards but it described where you could go to buy them. Luckily I was allowed to keep the link to the MTA subway map.

Re: Conflicts with Hidden Stages

Aw, man, this is a real bummer. I think I know where the confusion is. podcacher.com is a popular site that promotes both podcasts about geocaching, and podcaching , which is a variation on geocaching that uses audio clues to find the hidden containers. ...

Re: New iPhone and Geocaching

... coordinates from the browser page to plug them into Maps. Argh! But that said, it will take GPS coords as an input, and will drop a pin exactly where you tell it to. Once you get used to just trying align your "blue dot" with the cache's "red pin" without the other information, ...

Re: Here is why I love geocaching....

... almost like being OCD! If I know that something nearby is hidden (especially if there is a puzzle involved), it just... bothers me that it's somewhere out there, and I don't know where it is! Sometimes it's not even fun for me - a lot of times finding a cache is more like relief. I think that ...

Re: Fear Archived

... admin can be unarchived if you ask?). I don't know what the usual policy is, but I tried this once and failed. Logg Inn (GCV4PM) was located near where we ultimately placed Snug as a Bug in Central Park (GC12F8M) , but before we placed Bug I contacted Logg Inn's CO about adopting the cache. He ...

Re: Ever hear of "Meet Up" -- April 5 3 pm

... The way he explained it to me, he likes geocaching but isn't fired up about keeping score, and doesn't really need or want to publish to the world where he's been. So he downloads the coords, enjoys the hike, finds the cache and leaves it at that. Not how I play, but I can see it.

Having scouted it ahead of time, knowing exactly where it was placed, and also understanding the peculiar security implications of NYC geocaching and the sensitivity of the UN, I will have to disagree ...

Treasure Maps!

Bing Maps has a cool feature where you can render your destination as a Treasure Map. I plugged one of my caches in - came out pretty cool!

Re: Manhattan Magellan

Brett, I hope it will be for the 10% of the island where 4quA5 is located. If you have some spare time, could you check to see if it's still there for me to find? *hint, hint* haha ;-) That's actually on my list of things to do! Ever since lefalaf's ...

Re: Manhattan Magellan

Well sadly, to this point I have not successfully put together an 4quA5 "checkup" outing. It's a cache where I'd much rather go with a partner and it just hasn't happened... There's some chance I get out there before Sunday, but it's decreasingly likely.
