A Chatty cache goes to New York

... Banff, Calgary & Edmonton, and many more places in between. We couldn't miss this opportunity to re-visit New York, first time here as cachers though, and spend some time doing: GC17MX1- Bridges & Arches Cache And of course we also wanted to meet up with some other cachers to swap TB's ...

... http://coord.info/GCGACT ---> See 8/3/06 log (I assume it was a trackble, but am not sure). Interesting point originally raised by slukster though. I think the idea of TBs is great, but it is just so sad how they seem to fall off the radar most of the time. And some of the things noted in ...

Cachers leaving TB's OUTSIDE of micro caches

... was in the hands of the security guard on the property (he emailed the cacher who left it to find this out. Security is very aware of the cache although I could not find one who knew about the geocoin). Another guy recently placed TB's in two of my micro caches but after a little research I found ...

Re: Best Log Thread

... and the admins didn't think about if there really was a cache placed there (I did notice that the CO was on the gc.com site earlier this year though).

Re: Clever Cache Ideas

... encouraging the general caching community not to place hides for various reasons. But not for the FTF community... 3. Perhaps not clever per se, I thought this one is pretty interesting: GC3B8C7. I''d guess ten thousand people walk by within 10 feet of this cache on a daily basis. As of right now, ...

Been there a lot (I have relatives in the area and my sister lives in a suburb of Buffalo, though I myself am not from Canada), very nice clean and diverse/tolerant city and despite what you say about having a car again, very good public transportation ...

Clever Cache Ideas

... twist to them. Thought it may be fun to share with the board, and hopefully get other folks to post interesting ones they came across as well (though I'll bet there is likely already a Groundspeak forum topic in place along these lines). The first one I'll list here deals with something near ...

Forgot about that one, thanks for noting.

BTW, I didn't know that TBTP discouraged (or banned?) this, when did that happen?

Re: NYC "seed caching"?

The last "seed project" I can think of in the metro area was Connecticut's "Little Green Men" series a few years ago, several caches also made their way into Westchester (though none reached the boros).

Re: NYC "seed caching"?

Thanks addisonbr, that helps clarify things quite a bit. Bummer! Though I ultimately agree with what I perceive as their logic; it would likely be a bad idea to have crummy caches (i.e., geotrash) either being submitted or even published simply because someone ...

NYC "seed caching"?

... project. The idea was that the cache contained smaller cache containers, which the finders would then go place out into the rest of the world. We thought this was a pretty cool idea, though it obviously has some potential drawbacks and won't work for everyone (e.g., hiding a cache takes a certain ...

Re: Wildlife in NYC

And there are now deer on occasion in at least Van Cortlandt Park, though I've heard of some Staten Island sightings too, though I'm not sure how the deer got there from the "mainland". Ditto wild Turkeys in both.

Stone Bridges and Sore Arches event Thanksgiving weekend

I can't make this, but I noticed this and thought many of you might find it interesting (even though most of you probably already found the Bridges and Arches of Central Park multi-cache):
