Re: Five Star New York cache

Still working on it. I can't say for sure, but I feel like I'm between 80-90% of the way there. I've had at least one major Aha! moment, but obviously there is still work to be done. Haven't really picked it up and hacked ...

Re: Responsible muggles

Actually reminds me of my favorite log ever. I wasn't lucky enough to stumble across it myself, but it still cracks me up. I've mailed it to a number of my non-geocaching friends. It spans these four photos: http://img.geocaching.com/cache/log/3f6024e7-8e40-48ff-b074-eccef2971374.jpg ...

Re: old cache still alive!

Does the log book or container list the gc.com waypoint? If so I don't see why you can't "adopt" the cache. You'd be surprised. I tried to adopt Logg Inn only a week or two after it had been archived, with the blessing of the original owner, and groundspeak said no (I wound up placing Snu...

Re: Geocache TV show

... so if anyone wants a copy of it I can press it to DVD. From what I remember of what I saw last year, it wasn't the most flattering portrait. But still, interesting.

Re: Maps for Garmin Etrex Vista HCx

... like you might with a Nuvi or Tom Tom). And it's fine for that - not quite as easy to use since it doesn't mount on the dashboard as well, but still, it beats having to buy a completely separate device (with all of the attendant maps, etc.). The way that the U.S. Topo pack is cheaper, is relative ...

Re: Upper Manhattan

Interesting. Do you happen to know if it's definitely still there? It looks like the last successful log is 4 1/2 years ago and the container wasn't doing very well - have you checked on it since? And do you happen to know if the cache itself is behind ...

Re: Underground Cache Question

... tunnel. But that was essentially placed by groundspeak, and it was back in 2001 before guidelines had really tightened up much. (People were still putting caches on NYC inter-borough bridges back then.) I'm not sure about the kind of pull it would take to get a tunnel cache approved these ...

Re: New Metro GC Award Category Suggestion

... watch caches as a way of keeping tabs on my own, since a lot of folks don't log DNFs. If nobody's logging Snug as a Bug for a few days but I'm still seeing Found Its coming in for Gutch's CP Cache and CP Carousel, I know there is a huge chance that I've got a problem.

Announcing... Dastardly Pathtags!

... puzzle caches. No, we're not going to make the ones we publish any easier. And that seminar on how to solve puzzles? We want to do it, but it's still a few weeks off, at least. So what could we possibly be doing to ease the pain? Why, issuing commemorative achievement pathtags to the most intrepid ...

Re: The Congratulations Thread

Re: Do you think Opencaching is actually bad for Groundspeak

... groundspeak's data themselves, for instance; they can only take in the limited PQs that a user can generate. Interestingly enough, Buxley's maps still exists as a site, although it claims to carry no groundspeak listings - http://brillig.com/geocaching/new_york.shtml . Know why there aren't any ...
