Re: Child Waypoints

I've never heard the term "child waypoint" before - although I've got a sense for it from context, in case I'm missing something could you tell me more about what it means?

Re: Coin Poll

... (FYI, the pre-sale price of $6 is a buck or so above our costs, so we don't need to pre-sell the whole 250 to be able to afford the minting costs. Something in the neighborhood of 200 coins would do it. And I'm sure we'd be comfortable going a little out of pocket at the start if we fall a little ...

Re: Whatever happened to....

... block new and future caches. Cache turnover can be a great thing. For starters, when an area opens up it gives new cache owners a chance to hide something, and it gives other cachers in the area a chance to hunt for something new. I was very glad when NYA archived "Titanic". The CO ...

Re: FTF Etiquette

... before it is published. In my own mind, my race starts when the cache is published. If a friend of the CO signs the log as it's being placed or something similar, but I am the first to get to the cache after it's been published by GC.com, I'd add it to my private FTF bookmark list. Although ...

Re: FTF Etiquette

Ooh, I forgot something. A couple of notes about logging FTF's online... I always do what I can to let the FTF log the find online first. I consider it a respectful gesture on my part, and I am always psyched when other people show ...

August 28th - World Burn Congress - Community Outreach

... person who can help makes a huge difference! It will take place in the Southern region of Central Park. For volunteers, the schedule would look something like this: Friday, August 28th 2:30pm - local cachers get some orientation info, and disperse in pairs to hide temporary caches for the game ...

Re: Brooklyn is exploding

... hiders aren't always forthcoming about exactly how the cache is hidden. Not because they're being deceptive - but if you don't know that attaching something to a mailbox can be construed as a federal offense (which it can be!) you may not think it's noteworthy that it's attached to a mailbox instead ...

... and a half years of caching every single day! Which is impressive enough, but then four finders earlier was a team logging find number 37,000-and-something. Holy cannoli.

Bronx loses a bunch

Re: 1 Million!

... that means that there were a lot of FTF's we missed... Well, I'm not sure exactly how you're reading it, but yesterday there were like 999,675 or something like that, so there was some sort of trip between yesterday and today. That's 1M active caches, which has never happened before. I think the ...

Metro NY Calendar

... we do these calendars I think pricing in an extra few dollars so that (say) John doesn't have to shell money out of pocket the next time he buys something the group needs would be a worthwhile goal. Doing it through a company like Zazzle is nice because (unlike the coins) we don't have to order ...

Re: Summer on the Hudson

... I guess. They could have been found over the course of many different trips and erroneously logged all at once with the same Found It date or something. Buuuuut... I'm a teensy bit skeptical.

Re: Challenges - Thoughts?

... Have you noticed that dates for cache logs don't show up anymore? When I look at the logs for Snug as a Bug, now instead of 4/15/2011 it says something like "about four months ago". Why? I can only imagine because that's how Twitter and Facebook do it? And so... what the heck?
