8th Annual Manhattan Proto-Picnic Event

... on with others in time for the event. There are open outdoor tables at the Le Pain Quotidien in Central Park (it's not a fancy restaurant - it's a little outdoor snack café area) and we'll meet there informally. It's a "Proto" Picnic because you're not required to bring food! And Central ...

Interested in finding an "unpublished" cache?

... I'm very curious to find out if what I think is a clever hide is actually quite mundane? The hint was: "How high is your reach?" It's a little wet around the GZ but the cache isn't in any water or submerged. It must be very frustrating to create a great hide and have it rejected. It ...

Re: Bridges, "Rock and Roll" (GC19FHX), "Handy Relief" (GC19NF1)

... on the Rainbow Bridge a couple of years ago. Most definitely not a major bridge, not a terrorism target, etc. etc. etc. It's just an insignificant little span in Nowhere, Idaho that nobody cares about. http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/boise/emmett/elibrary/rainbowbridge.jpg Long story short, when the authorities ...

Re: New Wherigo Cache in Central Park

... asserted increasing control over the information. With the proprietary technology behind the wherigo concept, it would make their claim a little more straight-forward. I sincerely doubt wherigo could ever displace geocaching, that would be like trying to stand in the middle of a river ...

Re: I've Watched the Watchmen

... have to make. And, to be honest, I even preferred the new ending. I think it stayed very true to Moore's vision thematically, while being even a little tighter. If it's worse than what Moore did, I don't think it's worse by much. - I thought some of the casting was weak. I didn't think Malin ...

Re: Inconspicuous-ness

I sometimes thing we can take the stealth thing a little too far. Up-front honesty can occasionally be better for a cache's long-term health than attempted secrecy... I don't think we're as clever as we think we are, if people are actually watching ...

I broke my poor 60CSx

... I was getting out of the car, and it fell two or three feet to the pavement. I've done something similar a bunch of times before, but this time my little unit wasn't able to shrug it off. It seems to have lost the ability to read the memory card, and maps no longer update dynamically - the map ...

Mammut caches in NYC

... one of the Mammut caches was placed on the High Line, at N 40° 44.717 / W 74° 00.383 - only 60 feet from lefalaf's cache, so I think it caused a little confusion. I wasn't able to figure out who the FTF was, but contextually I'm guessing it was an overseas visitor. Listing here: http://basecamp.mammut.ch/de/shoe-chase/geocaches/new-york-city-highline-park ...
