Interested in finding an "unpublished" cache?

I just had a cache rejected because of the .1 mile (538 ft.) proximity rule when the reviewer determined that my cache was too close to the 2nd stage of a 4 part multi-cache (GCZRFT) How was I supposed to know? They only publish the coords ...

Conflicts with Hidden Stages

... of an issue, that I totally understand why it was addressed, and why admins are now pretty tight-lipped on the subject of coords. But I'm posting because I think the pendulum may have swung too far against earnest and honest cachers trying to break into the game, and facing often scarce real estate. ...

Re: Conflicts with Hidden Stages

... from "podcacher" and was trying to censor something that wasn't in your listing. And in the process confused the hell out of you, because only a small fraction of geocachers have ever even heard of podcacher, and that would include myself until relatively recently. For those who ...

Re: New iPhone and Geocaching

... information, it really wasn't a bad experience, and not fundamentally different than following looking for a cache from the map page on a Garmin. Because Google Maps doesn't store information locally - it retrieves map and satellite info from the web - this may also be a case where using your ...

Re: Geocache TV show

... to watching the whole documentary. It's pretty much what I remember, and echoes Gerk and Tatanka - pretty negative portrayal. Which is interesting because I don't think that's what the film maker was going for. But it would be difficult to watch this documentary and come away with a positive impression ...

Re: FTF Etiquette

... an FTF for myself if I feel I didn't have a privileged advantage over the other hounds. (I guess I considered the blog-nano-FTF un-privileged because the vague information was in a public post, not privately communicated to me, in a blog that I clicked through from the CO's GC.com profile). ...

Time Out New York article... from 2003

... upon the TONY cache a few months ago, while following the history of a dipped geocoin. The links in the cache description don't work, presumably because TONY has overhauled their site since the cache was placed. I tried to contact them a number of times for an updated URL but got nowhere fast, ...

Re: hunter gtech - RETRACTED

Another of Fats' caches that was retracted (just remembered) was "High in Morningside". Not sure why. Could have been because it was on the edge of a cliff. The listing, Fats' profile, the whole shebang disappeared the day before I was going to look for it. His profile returned ...

Re: Do you think Opencaching is actually bad for Groundspeak

... you know how almost every web site you go to uses Google Maps as the engine that drives their maps (store locator, jogging trails, etc.)? That's because Google Maps has an open API that is easy to work with. There is a bit of irony in noticing that Groundspeak switched to Google to power their ...

... about thing like permissioning in hard-to-access places. A land manager cuts a deal with one group, they don't realize there are multiple groups (because neither group is very forthcoming about it), caches get published that the manager wasn't expecting, and the whole area is shut off to caching. ...

Access between the bike/running path and Riverside isn't continuous, because Hwy 9A is between the two for most of the time. The access points between the two aren't as regular as you'd think - I know there's one at 72nd, ...
